Advice
FOR FREE ON THIS SITE
alba model information is the only independent UK Modelling Advice Service recognised by Connexions, Learn Direct, the DTI (BERR) plus many careers services worldwide. Established 1995 by Katie Froud, former model and legs of the iconic shot for Pretty Polly Nylons working alongside Equity, BECTU, the AMA, and advisor to the BFC, Model Health Inquiry.
Model advice WARNING - snapshot pictures are ALL you need to see if ALBA listed agencies will take you on!
We do not often pick out individual organisations for mention on our front page but due to the numbers of complaints we have received about this we feel we should make the following clear: modeladvice.info is in NOT associated with ALBA - Modeladvice.info is set up by Emily Fisher (who also runs Q image) - you will be invited to an assessment - for a £50 non-refundable deposit and told you will have a free shoot. Please do READ their TERMS & CONDITIONS PAGE carefully, on their page What will it cost? it says " MA through its affiliations covers the cost of the entire day, which includes the cost of the studio time, the photographers, the stylists, the assessment and the consultation. However, to ensure that you are serious about getting into modelling we ask for a non-refundable £50 booking deposit. This is to ensure that you turn up on the day for the assessment." ... however at the end of this you will be "offered a package " at £690 to £1,500 for images taken at the "free" shoot and until you pay the amount in full you will GET NOTHING ! If you have entered into a financial arrangement with Modeladvice.info and wish to seek help contact consumer direct on: 08454 04 05 06
=> Advice from leading 'A List' and AMA agency NEVS (www.nevs.co.uk) - "We regularly advise new faces and wannabees to avoid photographic agencies that charge high fees for ready made portfolios. We agree that this is a waste of money and we dont include these in their portfolio once they have joined us."

The Association of Model Agents & ALBA
The difference between the Association of Model Agents and Albamodel.info is that Alba is a totally independent public advice service and not linked with or run by any model agency.
The Association of Model Agents (AMA) is a small self-governing group of model agencies (18) that have set their own standards regarding conduct. They will provide you with a list of their members along with the strict criteria that they expect models to fit dealing with high fashion only.
To save you the cost of the call and postage we have the information that the Association of Model Agents (the AMA) will send to you
here.
